My partner had to take a job at Amazon after getting let go during covid. He was only allowed 30 minutes a day to use the restroom and the time started the second you stepped away from your work station. Oh, and the bathroom was a 10 minute walk across the warehouse from him through security. And he worked 12 hour shifts. No one to talk to, not allowed to listen to music in one ear. Stand in one spot and pack boxes for 12 hours. Took a month of working there for him to ever even meet his direct supervisor. Anyone you need to talk to you just call a call center. They have eliminated almost every human aspect of a workplace environment. Amazon treats humans like robots and then tries to make us think they’re generous for their crappy healthcare with high deductibles and a pay which IMO should be the minimum . Minimum wage was intended to be a minimum LIVABLE wage. Like cool you pay your employees enough to survive but the people who work for you want to die so I don’t think you should brag.

speaking of evictions, check out what's going on in Texas. I can't speak for the whole state, but I can speak on the evictions of Austin after winter storm Uri. Due to apartment complexes not being designed for snow, after the water damages and storm damages they are using it as an excuse to evict poor people, people of color, ad especially undocumented folk with a 7 days notice to find a new place to live. As we are living through Covid-19 as well as mass gentrification of cities like Austin and unlivable minimum wages, being able to put down the early payments of moving into a new apartment or rental home is nearly impossible for most of these people being evicted. Not only were the evictions terrible, some poor communities across Austin people are STILL without water after the storm and paying outrageous collective water bills for their apartments busted pipes all the while not getting a drop of water. Countless homeless folk and poor folk died due to Austin's blatant racism and classism in who got water and power first and who had it throughout the storm (check out the pictures of East Austin in a complete blackout while the skyscrapers in downtown Austin sustained power throughout.) East Austin has been and will continue to be a hub for undocumented folks and BIPOC, the city outright does everything in their power to leave them starved, freezing, dead or sick. countless homeless neighbors were found dead, the news won't give you that story and in fact the news is tries to blame everything and criticize Austin's massive, growing homeless population without addressing gentrification, rent increases, lack of entry level jobs, a lack of mental health help (the mental hospitals here are notoriously bad as well as not accessible to poor people), a lack of addiction help, etc. as well as cities literally bus their homeless population to Austin so they do not have to deal with them. I am aware this comment is mildly off topic of the video but i implore anyone with a heart to look into the realities of what is happening across big cities and who the effects of global warming and climate change will hurt the most, Austin's in the next few years will not be a unique story, but the funeral song of many, many human beings. This is not about what you, the reader of this comment, view undocumented and homeless folk but about human beings and i ask you to remember that as you vote, as you go about your life. Look out for your community, these people, these human beings, are your community and are more then deserving of your help and of your time and care. thank you
