Section 3: Global impacts of sustainable development initiatives The HP Business Operations Sustainability Goals Using renewable resources in all its global operations has been the aim of HP for many years. It is in line with its business strategies that encourage environmental conservation through the use of renewable resources. As a result, Hewlett and Packard aim at using 60% renewable electricity by the year 2025. The vision was strategized five years ago, and by 2018, 78% of this target had been achieved, according to the 2018 sustainability report. The HP generated and procured renewable electricity amounting to 275,944 MWh, equivalent to 47% of the energy it consumes in all its global operations (HP Press Center, 2019). A 100% use of renewable resources is not the only sustainability project that HP has because it is also looking for means to reduce portable water in its global operations to minimize waste and conserving water. The use of 100% renewable electricity by 2025 is a big commitment and a strong indication of how HP is committed to reducing waste and sustainability. The company is investing in efforts to conserve the environment by using energy sources that will leave the environment clean with zero contribution to global warming. The strategy is in line with the company's Paris Agreement support that encourages companies to develop programs that mitigate climate change effects worldwide. Renewable energy has social, environmental, and economic benefits globally. Generating renewable energy ensures that there is no emission of gases that leads to pollution and global warming (Kumar, 2020). The communities are also awakened to the need to continue protecting the environment and prevent further global warming (Amato, Henderson, & Florence, 2009). It also reduces water pollution and thus making sure that communities have access to quality water. HP's social impact on the use of renewable energy includes advancement in technology because the company is looking for means to use alternative sources of energy without causing damage to the environment. Also, the health of people and communities where HP is operating will be improved due to a decline in water and air pollution. Besides, the company's renewable energy methods and systems are using or will be using create local employment and increase consumer choices. These factors stimulate the economic development of a country (Ibrahim & Harrison, 2020). Job creation and better health lead to increased levels of standards of living and education. Such social factors are essential in contributing to a positive impact on the community and the environment. The HP partners with local governments to ensure that these benefits align with what authorities want to achieve for her people. From an economic point of view, renewable energy strategies allow HP to employ labor from the local communities. Communities can also start trust funds to invest money from renewable sources, contributing to local community businesses' growth. Besides, if HP bases its operations in India, the local community will be provided with the cheap renewable source (electricity in this case) to boost their businesses (Ibrahim & Harrison, 2020). Therefore, by using renewable energy sources like electricity in its operations, HP meets its social and environmental sustainability promises and helps local governments and communities improve living conditions in their societies. Section 4: Harnessing technology for sustainable development HP Life was the first technological advancement strategy to help people boost their businesses through technological education. HP Life offers 30 courses that allow customers and corporations to use this technology to improve their businesses. Design thinking, marketing, how to start a small business, and how to raise capital are some of the courses that are offered on HP Life. The HP Life courses come in seven languages and are available in all corners of the world where customers can access the internet. From 2012 to 2017, HP Life enrolled and offered these business and technology courses to more than 687,000 customers. By 2018 the number was more than 750,000, where most of these users came from developing countries like India, Morocco, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and developed nations like the United States. The programs/courses are available to users through the internet and come free. The HP Lifer has also been used to provide loans to these small businesses, with over $639,000 being given to users in 39 countries. In countries like India, millions of residents have been connected to this technology in more than 1088 villages. Users of this project learn how to use technology to learn and boost their businesses, apply for loans, and seek customers. As a result, HP Life has improved digital literacy levels in many countries. The company partners with the government on a public-private partnership initiative to understand the needs of the local community and how they (authorities and HP) can help society members. Besides, HP Life, the HP Company, also created HP Connection Spot to communicate and connect in a disaster. A connection spot is a custom-built gadget that comes in computers and the internet. Whether people face businesses when doing business or on a trip and have their computers with them, it is easy to communicate and ask for help. Such a trailer helps in place by assuring the owners that there are ways to communicate with others in case of disaster and seek assistance. All these are means of giving hope to people and their businesses by improving their security using technology. To achieve this, the HP Company and HP Foundation have partnered with Red Crescent Societies, International Federation of Red Cross, American Red Cross, and other vital networks that help in reconnecting and recovery processes. Thus, HP has a history of providing sustainable business environment through innovations. The strategies have been incorporated into the company’s code of conduct to ensure that everyone is working towards the same goal.

Part A Question 1 According to scientists, after carbon dioxide, soot is the second-largest contributor to global warming. Much of this soot comes from over 2 billion people who use firewood and other primitive cooking methods in developing countries. These are people who have no other alternatives to boil water and prepare food for the family. The soot contributes to global warming and leads to health issues among members of the family. The combined death toll for lung and heart complications resulting from soot worldwide is over 2 million people annually (Lawrence & Weber, 2014). The figures are more than tuberculosis and malaria combined, and that shows how serious it is soot on the health of across the world. The need for firewood to be used for cooking also led to deforestation as people continued to cut down trees looking for firewood. All these actions have devastating effects on the environment. Question 2 The adoption of clean cookstoves addresses poverty and economic development issues in many ways. First, time spent on fetching firewood can generate incomes by starting small businesses that will bring revenue to the family. Also, girls and women are the most affected. Young girls miss schools, and others are sexually harassed. A good education is vital in economic development and poverty eradication. Thus, young girls' failure to get much-needed education because they are committed to other tasks will only lead to more poverty (Lawrence & Weber, 2014). However, the clean cookstoves project eliminates the need to spend hours looking for firewood, and companies manufacturing these stoves have created thousands of jobs in developing countries. Such efforts will eradicate poverty and lead to economic development in developing countries. Part B Hewlett-Packard (HP) Section 1: External forces or influences The Hewlett-Packard (HP) Corporation has been involved in environmental and social sustainability long before sustainability became a cool business strategy. Companies have learned that what is good for the environment and social life is also suitable for business. Thus most of them are increasingly adopting sustainability measures to win the competition. HP Company has understood the need for sustainability for a long and always changes to provide more social and environmentally sustainable products. Three external factors led to increased sustainability efforts in HP Corporation (Moorhead, 2019, July 12). They include customer demands, laws of the land, and technological factors. Laws are regulations and rules from the local and national governments that are part of its development strategies. Each country has restrictions on what products and industries will be allowed to operate on their soil. Such laws are meant to protect the environment and, at the same time, make companies socially responsible. As a result, companies are likely to receive government support if they meet authorities' sustainability standards. HP was started in the United States. In this land, environmental sustainability and socially responsible measures like issuing insurance covers to employees and workers being paid per hour are vital parts of business development (Moorhead, 2019, July 12). Whether in technology or other industries, companies are also required to protect the environment from products and not to use raw materials that might lead to environmental degradation. HP has been leading the pack in providing sustainable measures concerning such demands. Technological factors: as one of the technology leaders, HP has been leading in artificial intelligence and other technological advancements. Such contributions are meant to provide customers with a better experience. Lately, as per the HP 2018 Sustainability Report, the company has been recycling 7% of all consumer content to help improve the environment (Moorhead, 2019, July 12). The new goal is to utilize 30% of consumer content in recycling by the year 2025. Technological advancement in various portfolios within the company will help in meeting this goal. On consumer demand, meeting the demands of customers and satisfying them is vital for any business survival. Technology companies like HP's mission are to provide computers that meet all clients' needs in all circumstances. Some of these customers are big corporations, and others are individuals. They all influence the decision-making processes in the company. The institution also researches all areas that will boost consumer satisfaction. Thus, while HP is recognized worldwide for its innovative technology, it also maintains a socially robust and responsible image in the market. Sustainability has helped HP keep brand equity and a strong impression globally because these factors affect its sales directly (HP Company, 2018). The tech company has been investing in corporate social responsibility (CSR) to improve the brand image to attract more customers and wield more power in the market. For instance, part of top management t HP's benefits is tied to CSR efforts (Moorhead, 2019, July 12). As a result, decisions must be passed that make the company more socially responsible for managing these benefits. Such efforts are then given to other employees leading to an active community that believes in social and environmental responsibility. The HP has a full-circle approach for CSR that ensures materials reuse and recovery. The hardware contents, such as printers and PCs, also recycle (Moorhead, 2019, July 12). The firm has an HP Reconditioning Program under its Refurbishment/ Reuse program that ensures that printers and PCs are recycled according to the 2018 HP Sustainability Report. On technology and how it has affected the company's policies, HP introduced HP Life, programs that empower customers through technological education. The tech helps meet consumer demands, such as free business and IT skills training, to undertake informative and interactive courses. This strategy improves its equity and brand image through CSR by assisting users in developing business and IT skills. The lessons also come in seven different languages to ensure all customers are covered irrespective of their differences in languages. Such are forms of giving back to the community to help improve community standards are part of a strategy that started in the early 1940s when the company donated its first $5 to help the US community (Moorhead, 2019, July 12). The 2018 HP Sustainability Report also quotes a project in India that has partnered with local governments to provide learning programs to millions of Indians living in rural communities. On environmental sustainability, the HP sustainability strategy ensures that there is a minimum carbon impact in her supply and production network. Carbon is the leading cause of global warming, and thus HP has three pillars of the community, the people, and the planet that it aims to protect by creating positive and lasting changes in each of these areas. Environmental impact is controlled to keep the earth, her people, and communities happier by protecting them today and in the future. Section 2: Internal forces or influences HP wants to maintain brand equity and a corporate brand that presents it as an organization that cares about the environment and people it serves. These are internal factors that have incorporated into the company's vision, mission, and policies (Ibrahim & Harrison, 2020). The management of HP has benefits tied to the CSR and environmental policies that they implement. The strategy aims to make sure the top-down flow of information is transparent on what is needed to protect the environment and the people that the institution serves. These efforts started back in the 1940s when Hewlett and Packard were formed, and the next year they contributed $5 to the community. By 1942 the corporation had all her employees covered in the health insurance program. Services and product sustainability goals have been incorporated in HP's brand equity by planning on making sure 35% of its printing and computing products are recyclable. These goals are to be reached by 2025, but as of 2018, 23% of this goal had been achieved. Such efforts witness that the company keeps its promise on improving the environment, which helps build its brand equity and corporate brand. Another internal factor is the organization's code of conduct or its structure. The fact that all managers are required to develop CSR and environmentally responsible initiatives marks that the tech company has a code of conduct that seeks to protect the environment and be socially responsible. The code of conduct has been passed over from its founders Dave Packard and Bill Hewlett started in the 1940s. In 1957, Packard and Hewlett designed HP's corporate strategies that required the company to commit to corporate citizenship and environmental stewardship (Moorhead, 2019, July 12). The directives included what the founders termed as HP's 'Citizenship' that ensured the tech giant was committed to contributing to the institutions and communities it was serving in any society that generated an environment for the company to operate. In doing so, HP designed a code of conduct that made it part of the community it was serving and thus not just any other business trying to make some profits. These ideals have been enshrined in the company's corporate responsibilities to date. For instance, in 2017, through its 'citizenship' strategies, the HP Foundation donated a combined $505,000 to United States, South Asia, Peru, and Mexico to help recovery efforts and disaster reliefs. Additionally, the foundation also contributed $250,000 in these countries to assist in disaster preparedness. Such as corporate strategies that help HP to make a difference in the communities that they do business.

Benefits of understanding trends in homelessness Members of the public will also be needed to provide information on current trends on homelessness and this will ensure everyone if incorporated in finding a solution. Such a strategy will be highly acceptable and easy to implement in a community. Also, this solution touches on economic effects of homelessness that are usually ignored. These people cannot afford a roof means that they lack so many other things in life. Also, there is a positive correlation between homelessness and mental health, drug abuse, and poor education. Refutation Research indicates that mental health problems are a significant contributor to homelessness, which means a house alone cannot help a homeless person with such health issues. In other cases, homelessness results from personal struggles and strains in relationships with romantic partners, friends, or family. Such conflicts erode efforts to make meaningful efforts, such as offering to house the homeless (Fowler, Hovmand, Marcal, & Das, 2019).

Solution to current state of homelessness The provision of permanent housing is not a strategy that can be accomplished in the short-term because of the logistics and finances involved. The federal government has a Department of Housing and Urban Planning that can work together to provide permanent housing in conjunction with other housing services organizations. This solution has been going on in many states but has not been efficient enough to provide accommodation to all homeless people in the country. The solution can be achieved by providing housing locations, employment services, legal assistance, diversion, and mediation as well as financial support (National Alliance to End Homelessness, 2020). Communities, private sectors, local and federal governments can all come together and form non-profit institutions, philanthropic programs, and faith-based initiatives that conduct housing assessments and develop solutions to help that are homeless. Evidence of Permanent Housing Solving Homelessness The provision of permanent housing is in line with the 'housing first' plan of removing people from the streets (National Alliance to End Homelessness, 2020). Each state must work closely with the national government to provide permanent supportive houses to the homeless. The housing first strategy aims at moving individuals who have been homeless for a long time into subsidized homes and offering them support services that can help them overcome challenges that put them into a homelessness situation in the first place. In most cases, homeless people have weak social ties and low incomes, according to a report by the White House on the state of Homelessness in the United States that was released in 2019. The two circumstances make it difficult for them to seek mental health solutions or pay for rehabilitation when suffering from drug abuse disorders. The research suggested that identifying homelessness causes should be the first step towards combating the social problem. Some of the causes of homelessness, like mental health and disorders related to drug abuse, need to be integrated with proposed solutions. Over the years, the number will be reduced to zero in the long-run. Benefits of analyzing solutions to homeless crisis The housing projects should be provided in the communities where the homeless live or on-site if there are spaces to erect the permanent housing structures. Some of the individuals targeted by this project suffer from substance abuse disorders and mental health. Keeping them in permanent structures makes it easy to integrate other mental health and rehabilitation services in the new communities. Targeted assistance is another strategy. The strategy aims to analyze the housing crises in a region and look for ways to help some homeless individuals prevent the situation from escalating. Refutation Social problems like repeat offenders or drug abuse needs solutions that are provided in permanent structures to control the subjects. If family members are abusing drugs and keeps on slipping back to addiction after rehab, then finding a permanent solution to their homelessness might be a problem. Also, one might find employment for the unemployed and homeless, but the decision to do the job and earn a living is something they (homeless) must do themselves (Fowler, Hovmand, Marcal, & Das, 2019). All these issues make it impossible to have one size fit all solution to the homeless problem in any society. Groups at Risk of being Homeless in the United States Some groups of Americans are more likely to become homeless than others. A common factor in most homeless people is their race and ethnic groups. The End Homelessness Organization states that Native Americans and Pacific Islanders are at higher risk of being homeless than any other group. For instance, the national average of homeless people is 17 out of 10,000, while that of Native Americans is much higher at 160 people out of 10,000 (The Council of Economic Advisers, 2019). However, because Native Americans and Pacific Islanders are significantly small in terms of population, it is difficult for the US Census Bureau to determine the correct figure of homeless correctly. Nevertheless, data from organizations dealing with the homeless suggests that these two minority groups suffer significant challenges. As a result, when tabulating the homeless in the United States, Black Americans, Hispanics, and multiracial Americans come top in numbers. The three populations are more in terms of number, making them the most on the streets when counting the homeless. Public policy experts and researchers emphasize the need to subdivide the homeless into more groups to understand how this social problem affects each person. The chronically homeless have experienced Homelessness for an extended period and those who are disabled or living with conditions that make it difficult for them to be more productive. Thus, when providing a solution, these people should be prioritized alongside the veterans because they serve the country. Systematically removing one group after another from Homelessness is the best way to eliminate the long-run social problem. Solutions to help people at risk of homelessness Offering temporary housing in partnership with the private and public sectors is vital to helping homeless. Some of the homeless people work during the day, and at night they have no place to sleep. Thus, there is a need to provide a quick and easy solution to this problem. Some temporary housing solutions include a temporary bed in safe havens, transitional housing, and emergency shelters. Hotspots, where homeless people are found in large numbers, need to be identified and near these points designated for temporary housing beds where people can go and spend their nights (The Council of Economic Advisers, 2019). Even though this solution will not end Homelessness in these populations, there is a ray of hope that they have somewhere safe and can spend the night. On those temporary beds, the homeless should also be provided with other amenities such as cheap food and bathrooms. Evidence that temporary housing helps Such a short-term solution will reduce the number of unsheltered who sleeps in the streets. Besides, those that are homeless and jobless can be employed in these temporary facilities to be making arrangements on how people will be served. The solution will kill two birds with one stone; reduce unsheltered Homelessness, and create employment for some people. Covid-19 has created another group of homeless people. Some people are at higher risk of suffering from coronavirus, and they include those over 65 years old. However, the homeless age first and, due to lack of proper shelter and food, have weak immunity putting them at more risks of contracting the virus (The Council of Economic Advisers, 2019). As a result, homeless people are likely to be more exposed to Covid-19 and lack proper treatment in the United States. The housing-based solution ensures that states take housing enormously and as one of the essential factors to consider when planning. Therefore, solving the homelessness problem in the United States will improve the living standards of more than 500,000 people and reduce pollution. Benefits to finding solutions to groups at risk of being homeless Homelessness comes with poor sanitation, increased crime rates, a surge in drug abuse and mental health issues, poor education, and family breakups that affects children and parents. Improved living conditions helps the affected positively by ensuring that their new homes have social amenities required to live a comfortable life. The process might be long but with temporary solutions like temporary beds and safe havens for the homeless. Groups at risk of being homeless are characterized with poor sanitation, increased crime rates, a surge in drug abuse and mental health issues, poor education, and family breakups as explained in this case.

The answer to the spurs question. About why we couldn't defend. Because we went down to 10men ffs lol.

United deserved that win, trying to play it down because of PSG being lazy is pathetic.

PSG not winning the UCL last season was all on their attackers. The likes of Paredes and Herrera did good but were let down by their attackers.

What a team performance by United. They worked hard. Wambasaka, tuanzebe, De gea were outstanding. Fred, Mctominay and telles were also good. Rashford needs to do better with 3 1v1 chances missed. But definitely came around with that 2nd goal.

I’m not one who’s ever engaged in the whole thing about comparing leagues and disparaging some of these top heavy leagues BUT for those who take offense at people who ‘disrespect’ the French league; listen to the resident Frenchman on the panel: he says PSG are a circus - this is the team that’s won Ligue 1 countless times on the trot....

calling psg just plain lazy is a disrespect to Ole and Manchester Uniteds tactics .... shame on you, better yet maybe espn fc is the reason why mls is not as exciting to watch compare to european or british football .. either way put some respect on Ole's name
