You can't cut stages with him. It's a stage hazard on a map called Midgar and there's a point where it gets sliced in half if a player grabs a summon. They placed him under the stage and gave the allusion that he cut it. But either way it looks cool :)

I still find it funny that Sephiorth spent his time trying to get into a children's fighting game just to continue to torment Cloud.

I honestly don't see why Sephiroth is loved so much. He wasn't anything impressive in the original FF7, except for his kickass boss music (he killed a flower girl in a surprise attack, and he got Black Materia with barely anything of his own input -- and he still failed to injure the planet to absorb the lifestream). Hell, even his one winged angel form was nothing like what we see in the present day or this video (ff7 one winged angel was almost-palette-swap of God Kefka). To me, Kefka was way more memorable and impressive. If FF6 had the 3D graphic, FF7 would just be a footnote in FF history.

Sephiroth was at the right place and at the right time. He was also something previous main antagonists weren't: a former hero And yeah, he actually did injure the planet: that's where the Geostigma came from. Sephiroth still uses his Safer form in present day and even in _this very game_ , so not sure what you're talking about. I wouldn't even call it a palette swap either. Kefka just had the six wings on his back but retained a fully humanoid form. Sephiroth's Safer form replaced his entire lower body with wings and his arm turned into a giant bladed wing he could actually attack with

@Ace_NX What was so different about it? The only new mechanic of FF7 was the limit break (which wasn't used very often due to how frustrating it was to build it up). Material system was just a modified version of what already existed (you "equip" magic/skills on a character).

It's hard to set a light hearted tone for a villian character and it's hard to set a dark tone for a happy hero Character. Look at the difference between this trailer and the banjo trailer. Two completely different tones. It works completely fine

Anymore? One of the new characters introduced in Ultimate was Ridley, a _man-eating dragon_ . They even snuck in a reference to that in that same trailer. Brawl's first third-party character was Snake, who hails from a series knee-deep in a lot of adult subjects and themes and also featured someone getting pulverized underfoot and one of the Assist Trophies being a guy who brutally hacked several soldiers to pieces and being covered in their blood. Smash only cares if you're a video game character that was on a Nintendo console at least. Doesn't matter what kind of game you're actually from or what you did
