that years worth of savings is a very good idea... I had 30k in my savings and then the campfire happened on nov 8th in paradise california. 30k seemed like a lot but the first month living was 4700 thats not counting food costs being dbl the normal because eat out every meal. This was also lower than most because I evacuated to reno nv because all the hotels in california were sold out and rates were going up. by the time I signed a new lease and got the most very basics replaced I was down to 8k.... oh I still needed to find a new job in a new city. just think this happened to 18000+ of us and I was lucky to have a savings.
