This remake IS NOT good...a sequel would have been much better.

Don't buy it, I wanted to warn everyone but the review section on Xbox store was removed for this game, the original classic was one of my best games ever, this is a broken remake, I had to repeat levels over and over for stupid bugs.

I loved this game as a younger person when it first came out. It was really good, the music and game play and artistic style. Had a lot of elements of goldeneye but more updated feel at the time. I just recently learned they remastered it and im sad to see it wasn't a good remaster. That said the worst thing about the original is rhe story ended on a massive cliffhanger so I was mostly here to see if they maybe changed the story? Always wanted to see a sequel to this game to pick up where the original left off, sad to see this is what was came up with instead.

The bit with the AK47 reminded me a bit of Far Cry 2, except that came out in 2009 and still looks fantastic, unlike this 2020 game. Also the original XIII still holds up pretty well and is cheap enough so this remake is really redundant.

The original is available on GOG updated to run on the latest hardware an OS's completely DRM free, can be played in HD etc, it is the definitive version of a great game.

To all the people ho have never played the OG, ....it was brilliant, a unique game that was brilliantly made for the time and was great fun whilst looking very good for the time too. This remaster really , really , really does not do the game justice. One of the great things about this is it have PvP split screen and you could also set up bots. You had max 6 players and you could in balance the teams. So me and my buddy used to play against bots on the hardest settings, me and him take 4 bots, fucking great fun

This remaster is as bad as Hunt Down the Freeman. Actually, it's worse if I'm being honest. The screen tearing, fps drops, horrible enemy Ai, and a list of other issues, are not easy to ignore.

well i had pretty much good memorys from this game

I remember playing the original version of this game. It was hella hard. I do NOT know what they have done with the enemy AI but I remember sneaking and not getting noticed as one of the hardest thing of the game. Specially as there are parts where you arent allowed to kill anyone as your "enemies" are just normal army/police.

Why are only the character models cell shaded and terribly so? The environments look atrociously out of place. They ruined this game. Play it on the Gamecube.

Perhaps the issue is that the game is so well remastered that people expected a NEW game instead of an HD remake with texture updates

... Wow, I never thought I would see a review of this game from someone who never played the original. This is literally a texture and lighting remake on top of the exact same engine and animations of a game that is nearly 20 years old. Every single issue they have with this game is an issue they would have with the original game...... .We get it, you hate the mechanics of a game that came out on the original xbox. The death animations are the same as the original, the mechanics, the non-reaction to bullet damage until death........ Wtf

Fun fact: There were at least 2 TV adaptations of the original XIII story. One was a 2 part made for TV movie starring Sam Worthington as Agent XIII. The other was a Showcase series of (I think) 10 episodes. Neither did the game justice.

Man i was really excited for this game and had it on the steam wishlist. Then i forgot about it and when i was just in my wishlist I saw it with like Overwhelming Negative Score so i came to look around and see whats going on and omg man like how is it possible to release something like this. I wish some billionaire with a strong love for gaming would sue companies like this and teach everyone that this is not ok.

I really really really really wanted this remake to be good, and to sell maybe well enough to justify a sequel some day. And when it was bad, I still really wanted to like this remake despite the technical issues. I see the effort that went into rebuilding the game. However even aside the inexcusable technical problems, there are some moments in this remake that don't do the original justice. And if a sequel comes and it looks like this, I'd rather have no sequel at all and still play the old XIII over and over again.

I have to admit, I loved playing this game when it first came out, even the multiplayer was fun.

I've still got the original cd's of XIII...was one of my favourite games back in the day. I played this remake, I didn't get through the first level and uninstalled it...

I love how the game drops "9mm ammo" and then they just gave up and couldn't figure out that an AK-47 uses 7.62mm ammo so they just call it "assault rifle ammo".

Can't lie... I used to love sniping the singer in the camp...as he serenades moon. Good times....good times.
