sims 4 is another universe and timeline different from previous games but nervous subject is in the sims 4 gallery. he's part of the beaker family and they are an official maxis recreation of sims 2 for the 19th anniversary (i think lmao)

I just got Midnight Hollow and had my sim adopt baby Nervous so he could have a better life. Now he's got a dad who loves him and a brother and sister.

oh god.. imagine the potential EA has at their fingertips. can you imagine the selling point of a gamepack being storylines for long-time sims-fans? idk, i just can't help but imagine fix-its through magic or sciency time-travel or whatever... poor guy... i never really payed much attention to lore OR really make my own in-depth back stories, so these videos are a great way to catch up and do kinda inspire me to add a bit more history to my households XD

I for one didn't know the sims existed until around 2008 and wasn't allowed to play the game until the end of 2009. My mom knew how non PG The Sims was and would not allow my not even 12 y/o ass to play it. I was allowed to play GTA (can't remember which one) on the PSP but we wouldn't do anything bad, just drive around hoping we don't get shot up by the Bloods and Crips. We actually didn't know that's who they were, we just called them the blue and red gangsters. I was 13 at the time but wasn't allowed to purchase GTA myself until I was 16. I started playing both around the same time btw.

As far as the “alternate timeline” thing is concerned, it would feel like less of a cop-out on EA’s part if they’d actually followed through on creating inter-household relationships, fleshed-out family trees, etc.

I just need to mention that the game literally ships Nervous Subject and Pascal Curious. Nervous is coded to show up when Pascal is giving birth. Nervous is a family sim and would love to take care of the alien babies while the curious brothers are busy with science. Nervous starts off with a slight dislike of girls which you could read as him being gay. Nervous has a really terrible personality as a result from all the experiments and doesn't get along with other sims very well, but him and Pascal get along really well. You hardly have to do anything to get them to fall in love. I swear to god one time I diddn't do anything at all and they autonomously flirted and fell in love.

I had Nervous get Circe pregnant in my game

I made Nervous Subject and Pascal Curious get married and moved into Olive’s house after she died. AJ Loner and Lola Singles got married and had twins a boy and a girl, but they lost the boy to social services. Then Nervous and Pascal adopted AJ and Lola’s lost son!! Was pretty proud of that one

Sometimes victims will develop a feeling of love for their abusers. Maybe that’s the reason why Nervous is close to Circe

I feel like the sims 4 was definitely made more for kids than the older games were

I figured he was name "Nervous Subject" because he is their lab experiment, literally the test subject they are testing on, i.e. "the subject shows no signs of reactions to this experiment". I would figure he has a real name, and it's a shame the Sims 3 could've given him one since he wasn't a test subject yet.

...i wonder if Origin will let me play my sister's copies of The Sims 2&3 expansions so i can rescue that poor, dear boy. i'm fairly sure EA has no respect for shared household objects and will prevent all mine efforts to save Nervous Subject.

I always just assumed the Beaker family "named" him Nervous Subject when they adopted him. Which is why I was so disappointed that was his name in Sims 3... but Olive is crazy, and EA isn't consistent so yeah...

Great to see another one from this series, but you left out a really big detail about Nervous! He's one of the only Sims to start out with a negative romantic preference for women in the Sims 2. That, combined with his friendship with Pascal, has led many fans to ship them together. I wish you had mentioned this detail about him!
