So I'm all for calling out BS calls, but yall really talking about the Taguchi spin. He over rotated, he was already going to spin or atleast was gonna park it. Nomatter how you look at it, Hull had nowhere to go and Taguchi had a unchaseable lead.

@Kay he's already starting to spin prior to impact and even if not, he had major decel, from too much angle, in a non decel zone. The impact would have been deemed his fault.

Without the contact it wouldve been the same small correction as LZ which by no means was unchaseable?

I can't believe how blind the comments are about the Taguchi call. Hull hit Taguchi BECAUSE Taguchi was already spinning. Its clear as day if you look from the camera Taguchi's car was clearly already over rotated where he was on the course. Hull was close and had no where to go and BARELY made contact. Regardless if Hull hit him or not Taguchi was going to spin. The absolute blindless is unreal. You can clearly see from the sky cam that Kazuya's S15 was well past the point of no return on his lead WELL before the finish. There was 0 way that car was crossing the finish line without spinning or completely straightening from that point in the corner. Hull hitting was the RESULT of Kazuya's error.

Seriously. Easily the best match up so far. Both runs were absolutely insane. Both maintained close proximity throughout the entire run, had awesome angles, etc. These guys are insane.

@subarusam34 I disagree. The driving this year is honestly a lot more aggressive than last year. Everyone is driving every battle like they're against Aasbo, Dean or Piotr. Seattles usually a clear cut for who's gonna win over the past few years. Even before Dean arrived. You could just tell who was dialed and gonna be in the top 3. This year and last year there was a lot of mix ups and drivers stepping up their game all around. Seattle is already a notoriously tough track on the schedule. I'd honestly say driving it is more sketchy than Irwindale or Long beach simply due to how the track is layed out. Especially driving that long bank and the end of the bank comes up so abruptly. Wall has eaten Champions like James, Piotr, Vaughn, Aasbo and many others. Every year driving goes up... rather James is around or not. When James didn't run DMEC or IDC those years the level of driving didn't decrease because he wasn't there. People pushed just as hard if not harder. Same for FD. The points are tighter this year than they have been any year prior. New contenders and new challenges with these back to back rounds. Its putting a toll on drivers and teams~ Its basically an endurance run now.

@JrP not really what I meant when I said it would be done in three hours I meant that the standard of drifting had dropped the final alone was 1 hour due to the messy runs of both JTP and Gittin last year the standard of drifting on formula Drift was higher due to worthouse and if they were there this year there standard never slips and they would be 1 and 2 unless Aasbo or someone else would step up, but it looks as if they all have dropped a level from there exit.

@JrP if the battle is what matters check out the two semis from driftmasters Riga and the final. The battles in driftmasters prove your point perfectly but saying the time it takes doesn't matter is a joke if one car takes 32 seconds to complete a run and another takes 29 seconds it won't be a battle because the first car can't keep up.

@Ryan Lowe It honestly wasn't. Even if you look at it from the top down camera which hides Nothing. You can clearly see Taguchi's car is well past the point of no return well before the line. He was going to spin no matter what happened. Hulls hit was a result of Taguchi's mistake. You say it was recoverable when it wasn't. His car was already on max lock at that point... He was off line and spinning. Even if he didn't spin he would have had to have parked it to keep from spinning. Regardless what he did at that point he was going to 0.

I think so of the rules need more work, because the been or event where something similar has happened and they say the chase car wasn’t following correctly

I mean its possible he could have not spun all the way around if not tapped but he was off throttle, trying to recover and therfore decelerating in a non-decel zone. They deemed that decel as the reason for the contact which I can see. Dont love the situation, like I said he should won the 1st battle

I'm an Odi fan for sure and have been rooting for him for a few years, but I think the judges made the right call on this one. He had very little angle in the chase. Last year, I think the judges preferred proximity even if it meant less angle, but this year I think they are being stricter towards drivers that sacrifice angle to stay close. A OMT would have been nice though!

@default Tag wasn’t going to spin out if Hull didn’t hit him. He was losing speed, yes, but he would’ve been able to straight out to get some forward momentum back.

Hmm I can agree on the music, and while I didn't like the stl track (neither did the drivers)... I feel like they should go back to the high speed track. The camera work has been impeccable allowing for that drone cam which is nice. They probably won't be able to get as good as drift masters but they can get close

Even if Hull didn't hit Taguchi, Taguchi will still spun out, If your saying taguchi won't spun out then It's all about speed, Judges said that driver's shouldn't slow down if they're aren't in Decel zone

Possibly but when they throw "cheat" around it can have negative implications. Some older OEM BMW's make perfect drift cars as well they are cheap, throw in an LS and good to go. Wheelbase to width ratio plus suspension and steering geometry all go together to make a drift car. I felt he was just making it up because they won.

Here's the bottom line. Where he was trying to recover from his spin was not a decel zone and he was off throttle, decelerating so he could try to recover from over rotating. Thats the reason for the contact and the finish of the spin.... but he should have won the 1st battle, I didn't agree with OMT there....
