Would love to see you in a gi, you’d be good at Jiu-Jitsu because of your approach to bouldering would transfer to the problem solving involved in grappling, and you have crazy grip strength which is a huge advantage starting out.

Really enjoyed this video. To make the ski start easier, stay in a crouch until the boat pulls you onto the water, don't stand up until you're on top of the water. You'll feel the boat pull you into the skis when you start, let the water push them right against your body until you come out of the water, on top.

Good job for a first try water skiing. It probably would have been easier starting in the water for a first timer, but colder of course. Also, a life vest to provide some buoyancy would have helped. Water and snow skiing are very different, as you lean back water skiing and lean forward snow skiing. I was a long time water skier, and pretty good at it. But I was never a good snow skier as I always lent back too much, so fell a lot. :(
