Electric cars/ motorcycles ... Obviously, yes I am a boomer. I am also a person who is 5th generation vehicle sales/garage owner. Plus I have raced cars and motorcycles since age 6. Then I have professional driving qualifications aplenty including those to teach others including the Police and special forces. Hence I can drive cars, motorcycles and heavy goods vehicles class C+E (ergo, articulated HGV1) ...Plus I also collect cars, motorcycles and watches. Firstly for me, electric vehicles (EV) as opposed to fossil fuel engined vehicles (ICE - Internal Combustion Engine) strike me like this .... They miss noise. The propulsion unit in a ICE vehicle is literally fire, it is alive. Whereas an EV is all whine and no soul. Secondly EV vs ICE to me are the difference between Quartz and mechanical watches. Myself I own a great many watches of all types; from quartz, to kinetic, to solar, to radio controlled, to mechanical. For precise time keeping I use a Casio G Shock, it cost a couple of hundred €uro ... It is solar and radio wave time adjusted; meaning every night @ 02.02 the watch has it's time updated via a nuclear clock by radio wave. Is that the watch I wear a lot? No, I only wear such watches if I really need accurate time which mostly i do not. Indeed, all my high value watches are mechanical, being either auto wind or hand wind. Out of choice I wear a 1960's hand wind watch mostly every day. Accurate? LOL, no not at all, even freshly serviced at great expense by the factory specialists it still loses minutes a week . Cheap? No, most people pay less for their car. So why do i wear this inaccurate watch which I have to carefully wind by hand each morning? Because it is alive, because you can see the workings work through the custom made rear glass window, because artisans made this watch many years ago ... because it s a thing with soul. A quartz just tells the time; how dull is that. Thirdly ... speed .. So many of these EV video's are all about how fast they are. Yes, EV is fast. So what? One of the most disappointing new bikes I ever bought (I have bought a great many) was a Yamaha V Max - a legend in the bike world for it's straight line take off and 1/4 mile speed. But that was about all it did well. It was apart from those hilarious 'V Max moments', deathly dull .. It handled poorly, it was not comfortable for a pillion and it had a stupid low fuel range which could leave you stranded before the advent of hand held mobile phones. (Yes, such a time existed) When I was a young man in my very early 20's a good friend of mine was on leave from his armed service .... So we decided in a bar one night, off the cuff, to have dinner in Rome .... So we drove about 1700 km in a 911 (930) Porsche which I had in stock from Amsterdam to Rome, in one hit, (20 something hours) ..... just for the laugh. Try that in your 'Sparky the battery boy' dull EV.
