Question for anyone. What if Elon made a star ship that did not come back from space by that I mean the starship only has a detachable lower engine or lower ring. What amount of the starship could used. The other question I have is what type a size and shape could be fitted by the heavy lift rocket. Could This be larger that the starship. What would you place on the heavy lift rocked.

I notice the prevalence of standard industry equipment , cherry pickers, fork lifts, cranes etc, not much is custom built. Is this a deliberate choice by Space X related to the ideal that these are mass-production items?

No, it's always there, was on all ships, including Starhopper, SN5 and 6, etc. It's just put up at the last minute, because of safety. Pretty much all rockets have it, including the Falcon. The only wackos that run without one are the Russians.

9:18 -- An incredible amount of intricate exposed tubing runs. They'll have to be installed internally at some point when the Starships are flown to orbit.

23 timer siden
almafuertegmailcom
almafuertegmailcom

You can't really mount the raceway internally. It's fine that it's there, it's very much external on the F9 and other rockets too, it's just well protected, that's all. The black insulation band running through the side of the F9 B5, that's a raceway not unlike this one. It'll be covered in final versions of the ships.

21 time siden
Owen Morgan
Owen Morgan

You say that but external raceway's have been a thing on like all rockets going back to Saturn V..... shuttle had loads (several required for the autogenous pressure system that SpaceX want to copy - using helium at this time after SN8 header tank issue as a stop-gap based on Tweets), so they will likely just be shielded with adequate protection. Easier to run up the outside than inside the cryo liquid tank.....
